Quinella and Exacta Betting System Secrets
Quinella betting is where you bet two selections and you
collect a dividend if they come first and second in any order. Exacta betting
is where you bet two selections and you collect a dividend if they come first
and second in order. As separately discussed for trifectas, some second place
selections are more likely to come second in quinellas and exactas than
traditionally expected. This clearly has implications for working out
quinella systems and exacta systems.
In particular, identifying the
selections that are more likely to come second in quinellas and exactas than
traditionally expected is the key to successful quinella and exacta
betting on the TAB. If you are interested in this then you might like a copy of

Quinella Bet Types
With Quinellas you get paid a dividend by picking
the first two place getters in either order. To maximise your chances of wining you need to bet a number of combinations. Following are ways to do this
from simple (and inefficient) to more complicated (and more profitable):
- Standard Quinellas are the simplest form of quinellas because you just select first
and second
(ie one selection to come first and another one to come second or vice versa). The cost is inexpensive at just one unit.
- Boxed Quinellas are popular because you simply bet a number of selections to come first
and second in any order. With boxed quinellas you get every possible
combination of your selections.
- Multiple Quinellas are similar to boxed quinellas but
you can specify one group of selections for first or second and another
group of selections to fill the other placing.
- Banker Quinellas are where you stand out one selection to
win or come second with other selections to fill the other placing. The use of bankers reduces your
outlay but naturally you only collect if your banker fills the required
position and your other selections fill the other position.
- Flexi Betting allows you to
reduce the overall amount bet in return for a proportionally reduced
collect. This is also known as Fractional Betting on Tattsbet and
Percentage Betting in NZ. See our page on trifectas for more
details.

Percentages the Secret to Quinella and Exacta Betting
As with trifectas, our Tote Pro mathematics used in the Race Day Live part of
Bet Selector uses place percentages to determine quinella and exacta chances. Tote Pro calculates and displays
the all important second place probabilities for helping you identify your
second place quinella and exacta selections. And it also goes the next step in
predicting quinella and exacta probabilities.
Short priced favourites on the TAB are usually over bet for second in
quinellas and exactas. Such favourites automatically make good first place
standouts but are often best ignored for second place. There are exceptions
however and the only way to accurately bet quinellas and exactas is to let Bet
Selector determine the relative bet sizes for each quinella and exacta combination.
